Ella's arrival was a pleasant surprise as I was sure she would be a colt. She turned out to be everything I hoped for
(except palomino!) and more...great personality, outstanding conformation, wonderful Hunter movement and fabulous
jumping ability.
Ella's sire, the recently deceased, many-time Supreme Champion *Rosedale Royal Flare (Varndell Right Royal x
Downland Flair) was shown successfully in under saddle and over fences classes and even competed twice in the world
renowned "Battle of the Breeds" at Spruce Meadows (Alberta, Canada) with a junior rider. In addition to his
performance accomplishments, Flare produced many offspring that have gone on to be successful in the show ring and as
breeding animals. Ella herself has never done worse than third place in any of her show ring Halter appearances. She, in
fact, can enter the ring with half of her mane rubbed out and still win under both judges! She has ATTITUDE,
PRESENCE and she can MOVE!
Ella was broke to drive in the Spring of 2004. As with everything else Ella's ever done, she exceeded my expectations by
leaps and bounds. At only her third driving show, Ella got a second place in a Carriage Driving cones course and was
Reserve Grand Champion in Section A/B Pleasure Driving to the 2003 & 2004 National Draft Driving Champion
Dandardel Lyric. I took over the reins for the final show of the season....only my tenth time driving ever. Ella was
wonderful for me and even placed over Lyric in one class! Ella began under saddle training in the Spring of 2005 and is
progressing very well.
